Dermatology is the science associated with preventing, diagnosing and treating diseases of the skin, hair and nails. Dermatologists are trained doctors in this science.
Those diseases include autoimmune and connective tissue disease; unusual looking moles; melanoma surveillance; disorders of cornification—which includes follicular keratoses, and palmoplantar keratodermas; pigmented disorders, environmental dermatitis, and hair and nail disorders.
The skin is the largest, most visible organ of the body. It can reflect the overall health of the body and acts as a barrier against injury and bacteria.
Some of the most common skin diseases include:
• Skin Cancer
• Fungal infections
